We are seeking a part-time (9 hours/week) Spanish-speaking teaching assistant to join us at Omniglots, a small language school in Barrington, RI. We are currently in need of after-school support from 2:15pm to 5:15pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. As our Spanish program expands, this role could serve as a stepping stone to a lead teacher position, and we will provide pedagogical training and professional support for those interested in advancing their career in language education.
REQUIREMENTS:
Candidates should be punctual, hardworking, patient, and enthusiastic about teaching and learning languages. Experience working with children and advanced proficiency in Spanish are required for this position, as well as cultural familiarity with Spanish-language children's songs and literature (from any country!) This position would be ideal for
- college students or recent college graduates considering a career in education,
- parents or caregivers with experience raising multilingual children, or
- early childhood educators with an interest in language education.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Greet and supervise students when they arrive after school
- Support the lead teacher during lessons and activities
- Assist students with learning tasks, routines, and transitions
- Use Spanish as often as possible when communicating with students
- Help manage classroom behavior and maintain a safe environment
- Prepare and organize materials and learning spaces
- Clean up and organize classrooms after lessons
